New mesures to access Wayna Picchu

This page explains the new measures to access Wayna Picchu.

Since July 15, 2011, the entrance and the visit of Wayna Picchu have a cost.

Explanations

Since July 15, 2011, the Ministry of Culture has decided to charge and limit the access to the Wayna Picchu site, the mountain in front of Machu Picchu, to 400 people per day.

The 2-day trek and the 4-day trek include already the entrance to Machu Picchu and we remind you that the visit to Wayna Picchu is not included in our services because until now it was optional and depending on each person’s decision. From now on, to visit this site the entrance must be purchased in advance in order to not be out of spaces once in Cusco. If you had not planned to visit Wayna Picchu, instead of or after the visit of Machu Picchu, reading this page is pointless. For those you had planned to visit Wayna Picchu, please notice that now there are 2 authorized schedules to enter the site: entrance from 7 am to 8 am and entrance from 10 am to 11 am. The possibilities according to the treks are:

  • For those doing the 4-day Inca Trail, the only possible schedule is from 10 am to 11 am.
  • For those doing the 4-day Inca Trail with an extra day or the 2-day Inca Trail, both schedules are possible.

If you wish, you can purchase these tickets with our Agency. For that, after having booked your trek online, you can just purchase them through the Follow-up page. You make this purchase any time until 10 days prior to the date of your trek. Notice that we are exceptionnally offering a 6% discount compared to our public prices.

Please notice that the entrance to Wayna Picchu includes mandatorily the entrance to Machu Picchu, that you already have because it is included in your trek, but there is nothing we can do. It is an aberration of the Ministry of Culture which imposes the rules and we must respect them.
